“The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be.”

-Socrates(469 BC–399 BC)

On February 17,2009 President Barack Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. When he signed it into law in Denver, Colorado he was doing what he believed to be the “right thing.” He thinks that by throwing more and more money at us the economy will get better. So when he signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act he promised us that “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be carried out with full transparency and accountability.” At http://www.Recovery.gov you can see where your money is going and what it is helping to accomplish in some nice pretty little charts. Here is one of those nice little charts:

Chart from http://www.recovery.gov/

This whole chart is meant to explain where our tax dollars are being spent. It is all part of President Obama’s “transparency and accountability.” He wants us to trust him with everything so that he can begin to do the things he really wants to accomplish while in office. If he can solve the financial crisis while showing us exactly what he is doing then maybe we will trust him more on whatever he tackles next. He wants to lull us into a sense of safety like everything is okay in the world.

Already after only a month in office people are starting to see that maybe electing Obama was not such a good idea. His approval ratings have dropped from 65% at the end of January to 60% as of mid-February. He is losing all of that charisma and glow that he had during the campaign. Is he just another president that we elected thinking he would burn bright forever and now the bulb is burning out? Or will he succeed in fixing the United States of America?

“Worthless people live only to eat and drink; people of worth eat and drink only to live.” -Socrates(469 BC–399 BC)

Why should we put the middle class front and center in this country of ours? Why should we put the people who do the work on the stage for once? Biden says “Something is seriously wrong when the economic engine of this nation – the great middle class – is treated this way.” He thinks that because the middle class is failing, the country as a whole must be failing too. Now, I too am a member of this “mistreated” middle class, but really what is he and President Obama going to do about it. If they get their way then they would do what to them would look like help us all, but really it would just delay the inevitable. It is time to let Darwin’s theory of Survival Of The Fittest and put it into practice. Darwin said that the strongest and best would survive the hard times. That is what needs to happen here. No, it may not be very popular right now. No, we won’t like it. But in the end it would be for the best. We need to get rid of the weak and build up the strong.

The middle class is not where the power is in the country. Yes, it is probably the biggest monetary class; but right now we need someone who will do the right thing and let us fall so we can get back up again. Stop trying to help us up before we fall or we will never learn to walk. Because right now these extra people who don’t belong in the middle class are pulling us down. Poverty exists for a reason, don’t upset that balance. Some people don’t want to work for a living, but their unemployment checks are still enough to keep them in the “middle class?” This just is not right. They people who are getting welfare/unemployment checks should be given a few months to get back out there and into a new job. After that they need to be cut off because they are pulling the country deeper and deeper into a debt from which we will never recover.

Now is the time to give up on these people who have no value. Let them fade into the unknown. Let the world take it’s course. You can’t beat the world. We need this change. Here is something that could easily be done to fix the current “crisis” and yet nobody will do it. Why not? They won’t do it because it is considered wrong to let your fellow American lose their home while you make enough money to buy a second home. It is considered wrong to buy things that you don’t need while the family down the street starves because they have no money to buy food because the father cannot get a new job. These things happen everyday no matter what you do, you cannot stop poverty. Let these things happen and move on with your lives. Don’t try to help them more that their unemployment/welfare checks will. If they cannot get a new job by then they aren’t really trying. So lets try and fix America. Let the poor fall, and only then will the “middle class” be “front and center.”

“True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.” -Socrates (469BC-399BC)

Socrates was one of the greatest teachers and philosophers to ever live. He taught us how little we really know when we think we know what we are talking about. He taught us that knowledge is not in what you know but in what you know you don’t know. He did many things with his life that most of us now would never think of doing. Socrates gave us a deeper understanding of what life means and how we should use it. But in the end Socrates was sentenced to death. He was forced to drink a liquid containing hemlock and was slowly paralyzed from the feet up until it finally reached his heart. It was a slow and painful death, but he took it instead of running from it.

This is a safe place for thoughts, for questions, for knowledge. Here is a place we can share what we think and not be persecuted for it as Socrates was for his beliefs.
